As we discussed on channel, There is the difference in mentality as one if a fighter and one is a boxer, and not only did McGregor have to learn a whole new set of skills and change his fitness regime to allow for the different style he would have also had to overcome instinct to use a knee in close quarters, As you say no one expected any other result but for a rookie in the boxing world to go 10 rounds and still be standing (all be it his legs had gone and guard was out) is by no way a bad result for McGregor and if nothing else is something he can add to his style in the MMA. I haven't seen the whole fight but from the parts I have seen and the score cards it certainly wasn't a complete "masterclass" that was expected as it looks to me like McGregor stood up well in an unfamiliar ring.
